Since its debut, the all-electric I-Pace has won more than 80 global awards, including 2019 World Car of the Year. So, you might find yourself thinking, ‘How can they make it better?’ Well, Jaguar has added a new infotainment system, quicker three-phase charging and subtly enhanced the performance SUV’s design. Every change that has been made, Jaguar says, ensures the I-Pace remains the benchmark in its class.
Design
Sportscar-like agility and dynamic handling is further enhanced by Torque Vectoring, Electronic Air Suspension, optional Adaptive Dynamics and the Configurable Dynamics system to personalise the car’s throttle sensitivity, steering weighting and damper stiffness. Dynamic Mode can be selected to wake up the I-Pace’s sporting character.
The I-Pace offers the thrilling Jaguar experience with zero tailpipe emissions, as the powertrain provides 400PS and 696Nm of torque. With built-in all-wheel drive traction, it powers from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. Its 90kWh battery (which boasts a range of up to 292 miles) is purposefully positioned in the car to provide a low centre of gravity and benefit vehicle dynamics. The I-Pace now comes with an 11kW on-board charger as standard, allowing for faster charging – a full charge from empty now takes only 8.6 hours (ideal for overnight charging at home). Those using 7kW wallboxes will achieve a full charge in 12.75 hours. When charging on-the-go, a 50kW charger will add up to 39 miles in 15 minutes, whilst a 100kW charger will add up to 78 miles over the same period.
The intuitive Pivi Pro infotainment system is laid out across a 12.3” HD virtual instrument cluster and 10” and 5” lower touchscreens to show information clearly. Inspired by smartphones, Pivi Pro also uses an updated algorithm to deliver a more accurate estimate of remaining vehicle range. When it comes to needing a top-up, enhanced navigation shows the availability and cost of nearby charging stations, as well as how long it will take to charge the car. Over-the-air technology allows for remote software updates. With a focus on air quality, passenger wellbeing is prioritised as the I-Pace features Cabin Air Ionisation with PM2.5 filtration to capture ultrafine airborne particles and allergens – the I-Pace can even filter its cabin air before a journey begins. What’s more, passengers can benefit from the Meridian 3D Surround System with TrifieldTM technology across 16 speakers and one subwoofer.
The I-Pace has been awarded the maximum five-star EuroNCAP rating and features a range of driver assistance systems. Visibility is enhanced by the 3D Surround Camera to provide a 360-degree digital plan view of the surrounding area and potential hazards, alongside the ClearSight Rearview Mirror designed to offer the driver a clear view of the road behind – even with passengers in the rear seat or a fully loaded 656-litre boot. When driving in extreme conditions, Adaptive Surface Response – available on cars fitted with Electronic Air Suspension and Adaptive Dynamics – adjusts the appropriate motor and brake settings to support. Meanwhile, All Surface Progress Control helps to set and maintain a steady speed in challenging conditions, and Low Traction Launch enhances capability in slippery conditions.
